Vista oops

I’ve been using Windows Vista for the best part of a year now, and have found it to be very stable and reliable (although, I know this is not the case for everyone). However, I did have a glitch yesterday where the registry got corrupted and Vista totally refused to boot – not even in to safe mode…

It would not have been such a problem if I could have found my Vista install DVD (yes, I do have a genuine DVD 😉 ), so I was unable to use its repair facility.

Whilst trying to figure out what to do, I stumbled upon the NeoSmart web site where they have created a Vista rescue ISO, which is based upon the recovery files on the Vista DVD. The ISO can be downloaded via torrent and is only 120Mb, and then burnt to a CD.

This ISO is also handy for owners of pre-built machines who do not get an install disc included with their machine.

Anyhoo, the CD worked a charm and I was then able to boot into Vista again.

You can find more details, including how to download and burn the ISO to a CD, on their web site here.

Thanks chaps!
